Creation of Fairfield Industrial Development Corporation (FIDC)
FIDC is a non-profit, Type 4A, economic development corporation whose mission is to promote, assist and enhance economic development opportunities in Fairfield, Texas. This is accomplished through a strong pro-business philosophy while capitalizing on our strategic location.

Created in 1985, the FIDC is charged with diversifying the economic base of the City of Fairfield, Texas. Since its inception, the FIDC has consistently promoted business growth through a highly effective strategy:

  • Retention and Expansion of Existing Businesses
  • Targeted Marketing and Attraction of New Businesses
  • Incentives and Infrastructure.

FIDC’s primary focus is on employers that sell a majority of their products and services to markets outside our regional economy. An economic growth factor is realized by the City of Fairfield’s retail and service sectors as a result of primary business expansion and the inbound revenue it generates.

FIDC works with local companies on an ongoing basis to assist and encourage expansion in the City of Fairfield which will stimulate the area economy and create more jobs. Working with existing companies is a priority with the FIDC.
Local Economic Development Sales Tax Fund:
FIDC was created as a result of the Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979 for the purpose of developing, implementing, providing, and financing Economic projects. FIDC is funded by a ΒΌ cent sales tax within the City of Fairfield.
